Here's what you can do to help relieve hyperacidity:

  • Eat small, regular meals based on wholefoods such as fruits, vegetables, whole-grain cereals and moderate amounts of protein such as lean meat, fish, eggs, cheese and nuts.
  • Cut out fatty foods and those that contain possible irritants such as chemical food additives or hot spices.
  • Avoid drinking immediately before meals, and drink sparingly during meals.
  • Hot compresses over the stomach are said to improve the blood supply in the area and relax the muscles.
